To Supercharge or Turbo Charge? In the era in which we live the obvious choice is to Turbo simply there are so many good kits around nowadays that deliver power, economy and reliability. Superchargers are a fantastic way of gaining power but being a form of belt driven compressor they are more difficult to fit and more difficult to tune. If you require more boost you often have to change pulley sizes to gain an adjustment. A Turbo in my opinion is the way to go as they make under powered Diesel 4WD vehicles far more enjoyable to drive, and when it comes to choices there are so many out there which have had all manner of time and money spent on them. A modern Turbo kit is simply a very neat factory looking item which fits comfortably under the bonnet of the vehicle it was designed for. Even better a turbo is driven by hot exhaust gas so in some ways it is free power.

In Project Patrick, the community based race car, many things motivated me to build Patrick, one of which is Patrick will allow me to be more involved in charity drive days. In the past I have done Charity driver days where I and others take kids for a spin in a race car, the last one we did was the Starlight Foundation and the kids loved it. I found this very rewarding and it provided the inspiration to start Project Patrick. The staff here at 4x4andMore have embraced the Charity theme with Patrick and also instrumental in the Convoy for SIDS and Kids WA Charity run. Check out the latest goings on with Project Patrick on our Facebook page; it is progressing quite well.

With less than a month until Easter I find myself very busy preparing my Patrol for the 1st round of the Australian Offroad Racing Championsip at Hyden. This has kept us flat out with many jobs to do, one of which is refitting a new gearbox and giving the old girl a general tidy up. On the shop front our workshop and showroom have been feeling the pre Easter rush with customers running us off our feet which is great and plenty of fun. It’s vitally important whether you be racing or simply touring you have good preparation so keep this in mind when planning your Easter trip and get your 4WD thoroughly checked prior to the long break. It will simply make the time off work we value so much that little bit more enjoyable.
Anyway hope you are looking forward to the Easter Break as much as I am it sure is a great time of year to have those few extra days off.

Catch ya in the bush!
